day seven
5/20/15
This morning we got to visit a local nursing home named Octavia waight. When we visited the kitchen the organizer for the home wrote down a few food items they were in need of. A group of us went to the marked and got some potatoes, watermelons, bananas, tomatoes and grapes. When we got back I helped sort some celery and put away some onions in the kitchen. After that I went out to the outdoor area of the home where most of the residents were. I helped out with bingo and also med a young girl who lives in Nicaragua and is traveling with a youth with a mission group around Central America. She was really interesting to talk to and hear about her life currently. We at lunch in town again and I tried Eva's. Sam, Morgan and I split the nachos and they were delicious. It was a good amount to split, then after we went to the ice cream shop again. I tried an ice cream called craboo which had a kind of fruity taste.
We later got to visit the main hospital in San Ignacio. We toured around the hospitals different sections. Kevin said it has come a long way since last year and it is expanding and renovating. Morgan and I got to help clean in the lab. The main technician taught us about the equipment and the different types of testing like for tuberculosis and HIV. After that we headed back for dinner at the log cab-inn.
